8—The Number of Power, Authority and Manifestation on the Material Plane
2024 is an important year, not only as the next to last year of our current 2017-2025 universal nine year cycle and a manifesting year, but for moving the world closer to completing an eighty year cycle that began in 1945, signaling the end of the old era with greater clarity and paving the way for healing and integration in this new millennium.
As this is a universal year reading for the planet at large, including the US, the personal numerology of the US for this year and beyond will be detailed in a separate writing.
As the number of power on the material plane, 8 is also a number given to extremes, and this year will see across the board intense extremes in thought, speech, action and events in the world, with more than a few surprises. 8 is a number of mental development and expansion. 2024 will bring big power struggles as well as the transfer of power in leadership roles. However, 8 can be seen as a bridge between the spiritual and material planes, bringing the possibility of balance, resolution and new strength with a fusion of powerful spiritual and material forces.
According to the specific purpose and development of our current 2017-2025 cycle, there is a quickening of energy hastening the evolution of humanity, revealing a weariness with the old, outworn ways of being in the world and bringing more earnest desires for efficient and just results, as well as awakening intuitive openness that inspire the highest quality actions, awareness and understanding toward improvement. However, in 2024 the opposite reactions of resistance, chaos and subterfuge for sustaining the past era of control and domination are also being generated.
Much is at stake this year that will require above board, ethical intelligence and precision in judgment. 2024 is about the intentions of 2017 made manifest, like seeds planted in that beginning year that have matured for harvesting.
It’s All Connected
The interconnectedness of all in existence in the universe expresses itself in the appearance of duality on the material plane. The existence of form in material reality is seen to function as a mathematically ordered space/time continuum, experienced through various cycles of movement and progression. While this may not be the ultimate truth of things, it serves its purpose in the evolution of consciousness.
A nine year cycle of creative human development is called a Universal Directive (UD) cycle. Each year of a UD cycle has its own energetic number, based on its position in the cycle that describes its direction and purpose. Every UD cycle also carries a number directing the purpose of the entire UD cycle, which will add its influence to the purpose and direction of every year.
The purpose and number of our current UD cycle in this era of transition and its significant influence on the people and events of 2024 is given below.
The 2017-2025 Universal Directive Cycle
The 2017-2025 UD cycle is the 225th nine year cycle of human growth and development since the beginning of our calendar in the year 1 AD. As the 225th cycle, the quality of the directive force and purpose for the entire cycle is that of the number 9 (2+2+5 = 9).
For the purpose of this writing, some keywords for the number 9 are whole, universal, the all in all, unity; finality, finishing, ending, completion. 9 is associated with the final stage of human development, governing all of humanity and humanitarian concerns, bringing to completion that which is no longer needed or has outlived its usefulness for further development.
The 2017-2025 UD cycle, with the qualities of 9 energy as a directive purpose, is a completion cycle, the final stage of tying up loose ends and wiping the slate clean in preparation for the new cycle, as well as bringing opportunities for evolving out of the past. 2025 will complete the directive purpose of the 9, set into motion by the events of 2017, the beginning year of the cycle. However, this particular cycle carries an even higher significance in this era of transition and transformation as it will also complete a larger cycle of nine year cycles.
2017-2025 is the first UD completion cycle of 9 energy in eighty years of repeating nine year cycles, meaning, as a completion cycle, it is the ninth and last cycle of nine year cycles since 1945. The last UD completion cycle was the 1936-1944 cycle, which was the last nine year cycle of nine cycles that began in 1864. The completion cycle of 1936-1944 brought a culmination of many things to a head with significant endings, as well as losses, and stimulated major turning points in the world, not the least of which was WWII. 1945 then began a new cycle of nine year cycles that ends with the 2017-2025 cycle. I will save a deeper discussion about the thread that has run through this larger cycle that began in 1945 as part of the upcoming paper on the US, but suffice it to say, what is passing away with this larger cycle will have a much greater significance than past cycles of its kind in a thousand years.
A UD completion cycle of this magnitude, the first of its kind happening in the new 2000s millennium, with the change in energy from 1 to 2 (1000s to the 2000s), perhaps foretells a shift in reality, difficult if not impossible to imagine. Yet, as can already be perceived in these modern times, this cycle portends a great awakening of consciousness in humanity that will assist in the preparations for a flood of new beginnings that will occur in the next nine year UD cycle beginning in 2026.
As the humanitarian number of inclusiveness and universality, 9 influences humanity to become aware of and evolve in the higher frequency of unconditional, universal love from a self-less perspective by giving equal opportunity to all for loss or gain. It is therefore the number of finalization and termination as well as fruition, ultimate achievement and attainment.
2024 is the 8th year of our current 2017-2025 Universal Directive cycle of 9 energy and therefore carries the energy and purpose of the number 8, influenced by the number 9. The 8th year in a cycle is one of action, a material rebirthing of the original idea of the 1st year coming into manifested form. In this 9 UD cycle, old karma not previously faced and balanced can be cleared and released. In combination with the powerful, manifesting action of the number 8 in 2024, the world will likely see the start of a significant and dramatic ‘clearing of the decks’ in preparation for the important tasks ahead of us. We will see this mostly in geopolitical, ecological and sociological arenas.
As the next to last year in the cycle, and with the added influence of the 9 UD as well as the new 2000 millennium energy of the cooperative, relational 2, 2024 will be significant in ways not previously imagined or anticipated.
2024—Redefining the Meaning of Power
What does it mean to be sustainably powerful? What is meant by using power consciously and why is it important? Power is a term associated with achievement and success through mental or physical strength and endeavor. It has been described as an authority or superiority over others that qualifies as worthy of higher position or leadership. Acquiring such a position infers the achievement of self-empowerment.
Some believe that self-empowerment can be gained through a fear based approach of manipulation, ruthlessness, tyranny and force to overpower and dominate others.
However, though it has been historically consistent, this way amounts to an abuse of power, which inevitably gives rise to envy, hate and increasing fear that leads to endless power struggles, separatist “cut throat” strategies of disregard, anger and conflict.
There is a clear and present danger from those who do not know how powerful they are, nor understand it, who are not aware of their reasons for seeking power, which include feelings of being powerless or out of control, fear of being controlled by others and a self doubt that leads to a need to prove their power to themselves and others.
This approach is unconscious in those, who, through ignorance and insecure egos, wield power irresponsibly, with delusions of grandeur, unaware and in denial about the tremendous harm they are doing. These succumb to an insatiable greed that mistakes acquisition on the material plane for power. The power and wealth they achieve is never enough because they know it is temporary. A lack of understanding about the nature of True power that transcends the material perpetuates the wheel of fear, greed and endless war.
This exclusive approach is limited by its narrow scope and inevitably, historically, leads to fatal mistakes and eventual downfall. It is, therefore, ultimately, non-sustainable.
Self-empowerment can be gained through courage and determination to repeatedly and relentlessly engage in self-discovery by facing the fears, insecurities and self-doubts that can create blind spots and block access to the conscious and responsible use of power.
This approach enables self-empowerment on the material plane through a conscious self awareness that is inclusive in its capacity to perceive the self as part of the larger whole of humanity. Conscious action through true self awareness has, therefore, great advantages in the use of power through this broader approach that attracts the cooperation of powerful others with similar energy and achievement. Self-empowerment at this level is self responsible and builds sustainable strength through the empathic awareness of individuals who recognize the power of their uniqueness as a contribution to the greater good of the world in which they are included.
8—Getting Down to Business in 2024
8 is a mental number of executive functioning and decision making. Ambition, organization, reorganization, effort and achievement are all words that describe the actions at work in 2024. 8 rules the material world of money through buying, selling and trading. Extremes in the global market, especially in the US, will likely occur.
Big business and the corporate world thrive under the 8 through intelligence, good judgment, repeated effort and efficiency. 8 energy is seen in positions of high authority as the arbitrator, controller, director and manager of crises. In 2024, intense power struggles will demand higher ethics, not only determining business success and failure, but influencing decision making in economic, law and political policy.
As the supervisor of human ethics, 8 energy will be holding court on many socioeconomic and sociopolitical issues as the judge and jury in 2024. Accountability will be front and center and when those in positions of authority respond to its higher calling, wisdom, truth and justice can prevail. However, though success is all but assured, it will require repeated effort to get and stay balanced on the right side of things, as evidenced by the increase of political polarization in the US and abroad.

At the same time, important changes in philosophy and psychology will be explored and implemented. There will be great insights into the integration of right and left brain processes and breakthroughs in consciousness research in 2024.
2024 will see more women seeking and gaining positions of power on equal footing with men, though resistance will still be in evidence, yet in the 2000s, in this new era of integration and balance between the material and spiritual, the power of the feminine qualities of energy will bring a significant understanding of interconnectedness and the way to peace in the world.
The generosity of 8 can be seen in the sharing of wealth vs greed and profit over people; in empowering rather than overpowering others. Where there is imbalance between opposing forces, the number 8 will bring its powerful higher mind qualities of reason and wisdom to restore equilibrium and elevate knowing to a higher octave. The process, however, can be tumultuous. 8 is nothing if not intense.
As the number of power and transformation, 8 is the great equalizer, the ruler of death and rebirth on the material plane. The earth itself is in the process of purging. In an evolutionary leap, old energies are being shed and outworn, decaying matter is being uprooted and dispersed with greater frequency and intensity. 8 is an earth element number and a reaper of what has been sown. The increase in severity and intensity of changes in the earth’s environment can be seen as a reflection of the resistance to the change of consciousness humanity is undergoing.
The Times, They Are…Changed…
Beyond the mundane definition of power, whether achieved consciously or unconsciously, lies the true meaning of the ultimate, transcendent power of being. The world is truly in a crisis period, demanding greater clarity it seems than ever before, yet this is a time of transition, marked by the millennial shift to the 2000s that signals a new era of transcendence from the old, dominant order of being to the higher consciousness awareness of relational existence.
It can be said that the old order ended with crossing the millennial threshold in 2000. Yet, the world is in the process of coming into awareness of this already existing change, stimulating a wide spectrum of fearful responses. The beginnings of this awareness have given rise to positive expectations in some, but greater resistance in those still attached to continuing in the same old ‘us and them’, separatist ways, creating fear, confusion, anger, disruptive reactions and the intense power conflicts manifesting in 2024.
In this new millennium of 2 energy (2000s), in this era of integration, duality becomes more visible through higher contrast, making shadow and light more distinctive. The increasing focus on exclusive materiality in past decades has served to shift societal values in some toward even greater separation mentality, creating more suspicion, distrust and polarization, while fostering feelings of alienation, insecurity, anger and violence. Yet, it seems this shift is perhaps serving as a necessary, if temporary, higher contrast that is shedding a brighter light on the unconscious use of power and its consequences, thus illuminating a higher, more responsible and conscious path.
It may seem things have changed or are changing too quickly or that what’s dissolving in front of us is too close for personal comfort, creating further resistance and anxiety, most notably in the US. However, this time also signals awakenings in those who can sense and even embrace the chaotic changes and undesired disruptions as evolutionary. As the light of new consciousness reveals itself, the old paradigm ways of thought and action will inevitably be absorbed and transmuted, until a time when the new reality makes the transition seem like a dark room vanishing with the flip of a light switch.
2024 is a call to action that offers a time for individuals to connect with the inner light of their unique strengths, hidden abilities and inner resources for self-empowerment that serves to illuminate the infinite potential residing within all human beings for the greater good of humanity and planet Earth.
Reaping What’s Been Sown
With the number 9 as director, each year of the 2017-2025 cycle since it began has been concerned with releasing the baggage on our path of planetary evolution, thereby creating a less encumbered, free space to more easily embrace new beginnings and move forward in every area of life on individual and collective levels. The 2017-2025 cycle has been instrumental in bringing the endings, completions, losses and gains necessary to prepare for the new world many of us have known is coming.
Each year, beginning in 2017, events have been shedding a brilliant light on the imbalance created by systemic dysfunction based on long outdated belief systems that no longer serve the evolutionary greater good as well as revealing the futility of the self-defeating actions taken to keep them going. It is now more widely, undeniably apparent, if painfully so, what the consequences of living in a negative, fear based world produce.
2024 brings the opportunity for efficient and effective action toward release and change. Yet the timing of the consciousness transformation underway depends on open receptivity to the self-awareness commencing in all individuals to move humanity forward.
It has been said that societies built on lies don’t last long and history will bear that out, as well as perhaps explain the perpetration of disinformation and its resulting confusion that appear to be dismantling the world. Yet, while the truth in these days may be harder to discern, the opportunity always exists to look deeper within to find it. The intelligence of the heart is by now well documented and in the mental harassment of the current times, perhaps we have forgotten the power it has to tell us the truth, in no uncertain terms.
The time for denial is over. The challenges for higher awareness we all face are intrinsically linked to a new understanding that our very existence may depend on recognizing and acknowledging the true essence of power that is unity consciousness, the fundamental ground of being. Perhaps the transformation we’re now about will redefine our understanding of what it means to survive as an integrated species of individuals who are not at war with themselves and therefore have less need or desire to war with others.
The first steps in abolishing the need for perpetual conflict and war may well rest in adopting a relational approach that enlightens us through emotional intelligence that respects all life, appreciates differences and, through a cooperative mentality, brings the connection, empathy and understanding that define and empower our humanity.
We are all powerful beings. Human kind is now being faced squarely with the moment by moment choice between continuing to live in an unconscious, fear based and self limiting, materialistic way or embracing the spiritual side of development with higher awareness to co-exist in a relational, balanced way with material reality and align with the evolution of consciousness that is upon us.
It is not easy to confirm what awaits us in the next cycle, however, it seems clear the planet is experiencing an evolutionary leap. If we end this cycle well, that is, if we can take advantage of the new opportunities this new millennium promises, with flexibility and higher consciousness action, the times ahead, beginning with the 2026-2034 cycle, point directly to a new renaissance period of creativity, abundance and sharing.
